Scleral Contact Lenses – This is a large diameter, rigid lens that vaults up and over the cornea (the clear outer layer of the eye) and rest solely on the white part of the eye, the sclera. The space between the contact lens and cornea is filled with preservative-free saline which provides all-day moisture and lubrication which aids those suffering from ocular surface diseases including dry eye. The rigid material of the lens allows for improved vision and can help mask the irregularities from keratoconus, corneal transplants, corneal scars and post-refractive surgery.
