The normal procedure is for the Optometrist to do the pre-operative workup, arrange the actual surgical date, and then perform a series of post-operative checkups. Any fee you are quoted will be an all-encompassing fee for both the surgeon and the Optometrist.

You can also choose to approach a laser centre directly, although there is no inherent cost saving that way, and it’s generally more convenient to visit the Optometrist’s office for checkups.

Dr. Koria  and Dr. Ginter strongly recommend paying the extra money to go to one of the top-tier laser centres. There are bargain places to be sure, but as with anything corners must be cut (no pun intended) to lower the cost, and eye care is not a good area for economizing.
