What are Specialty Contact Lenses? Click to learn more!
Specialty lenses are, in the simplest of terms, lenses that are custom designed for the unique shape of each individual cornea (the clear front surface layer of the eye). They can be soft, rigid gas permeable (RGP), hybrid or scleral lenses and are used to treat a variety of eye conditions. Dr. Bligdon has firsthand experience fitting all types of specialty lenses for dry eye disease, keratoconus, corneal transplant, corneal scarring, high or irregular astigmatism, aphakia, radial keratotomy, post-LASIK ectasia, ocular trauma, and graft versus host disease (GVHD). Dr. Bligdon has lectured and presented her work at both local and national events.
