Dr. Urbowshe Mahmood (pronounced “Er-boh-shee”)
Dr. Mahmood grew up in Etobicoke alongside her twin sister (yes, she’s the younger one—by just a few minutes!). She’s thrilled to be part of the Ajax Eye Care team and is happy to provide your eye exam in English—and with a bit of Bangla, too! 
She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science degree with High Distinction at the University of Toronto’s downtown campus. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo, graduating with Dean’s Honours. During optometry school, Dr. Mahmood received the Barbara Sivak Memorial Award and Alcon Scholarship for Research in Contact Lens Care. Dr. Mahmood enjoys seeing patients of all ages and has a special interest in myopia management, orthokeratology (Ortho-K) and multifocal contact lenses.
When she’s not at the clinic, you might find her exploring hiking trails and escape rooms. She loves spending time with her family and friends. Dr. Mahmood brings humour to the office and isn’t afraid to laugh at her own jokes (someone has to!). She’s excited to connect with the Ajax community and help patients see their world more clearly.
